Scholarship overview
This $1,000 award honors the memory of Cynthia Ann Kennedy, mother of Levi Stanton (Chico High School class of 2011). The scholarship is funded by those who cherished Cindy and by supporters who continue to stand with her family. Cindy lived with spirited determination and a goal-focused approach that helped her fulfill many ambitions: she traveled to more than 30 countries; earned a summa cum laude degree in Multi-Cultural and Gender Studies from California State University, Chico; founded Namaste House Children’s Home in Pokhara, Nepal; and provided the guidance and support that helped her son obtain a full scholarship to Princeton University. She was also a loyal friend—offering advice, a listening ear, and practical help whenever needed.
Purpose and eligibility
The award is intended to recognize and encourage the same perseverance and drive Cindy championed. It is open to graduating, college-bound seniors from the following high schools: Chico High School, Pleasant Valley High School, Fairview High School, and Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. Scholarship recipients will be announced at each school’s Scholarship & Awards ceremony.
