Scott Crosbie Memorial Scholarship

Overview
This scholarship was created in 2013 to honor the memory of Scott Crosbie, the cherished son of Past President and Woman of the Year Heidi Crosbie. Scott loved higher education and the sciences and was actively pursuing his doctoral studies at UC Davis when he passed. The award supports students who share his commitment to learning and service.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following at the time of application:
- Be graduating from high school on or before July 31 of this year.
- Live in or attend school within Greater Sacramento (Sacramento, Placer, or Yolo Counties).
- Plan to pursue a college degree or a technical training certification in one of these fields: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Mental Health, or Veterinary Science.
- Have documented community service or volunteer experience.
- Intend to enroll in an upcoming academic year at a two (2)- or four (4)-year college or university, or a vocational/trade school.
- Hold a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
- Note: You may apply to only one of the Active 20-30 Club’s scholarship opportunities per academic year.
Application Essays
Essay 1 — Community Service and the Club Mission
Active 20-30’s mission: "Providing young adults an opportunity for personal growth, friendships, and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the underserved children in our communities."
Explain how your volunteer or community service activities align with this mission. Provide concrete examples of what you did, the effects your work had on people or the community, and the personal insights, skills, or growth you gained from those experiences.
Essay 2 — Educational and Career Plans
Active 20-30 members come from diverse educational backgrounds and professions.
Describe your plans after high school: the program or field you intend to study or train in, your long-term objectives, and your career aspirations. Describe what led you to choose this path and what abilities or personal qualities you believe will help you succeed professionally.
